About Blue Jacket Farm

Blue Jacket Farm is 65 acres of rolling Kansas pastureland 5 miles southeast of Lawrence, Kansas, home of the University of Kansas. The farm is 25 miles west of the Kansas City metropolitan area.

In the middle of the 1800s, the land of Blue Jacket Farm was part of the Shawnee Indian Reservation, to where the Shawnee of Ohio were relocated.  Around the time of the Civil War, a frame house was built at the crest of Blue Jacket Farm and still stands today.

The land of Blue Jacket Farm was acquired by John B. Gage, attorney and Mayor of Kansas City from 1940 to 1946 and was later owned by John’s son, Frank H. Gage until 2002.

Today, Blue Jacket is home to Dennis Goodwin and Rodney Schwatken. The farmhouse has been restored and a new horse barn installed, which is home to some of the best cared for horses you will find anywhere.
